Nonresorbable membranes have become an integral part of the process of targeted bone regeneration. PTFE membranes made from high-density microporous polytetrafluoroethylene (dPTFE) are biologically inert and chemically non-reactive, making them an ideal choice for repairing severe defects that require significant volume retention, as well as in conditions of significant tissue pressure.

High-density PTFE is an evolution of the ePTFE material, which has a long history of success in dentistry.

An improved structure with a smaller pore diameter (up to 0.2 microns) reduces the risk of bacterial penetration, but at the same time allows gases and small molecules to pass through. Thanks to this, the membrane can be used in an open way, protecting the underlying defect and the bone graft. After implantation, it is quickly covered with plasma proteins, which promotes cell adhesion to the membrane surface and forms a sealed layer. It prevents the migration of bacteria and epithelial cells above and below the membrane. The absence of ingrown tissues makes removal simple and atraumatic.

The dPTFE membrane is soft, flexible, easy to trim and shape, which allows it to be adapted to any defect profile. Titanium reinforcement increases the rigidity and allows the membrane to be used in defects that require the use of a strong frame.

Titanium-reinforced PTFE membrane, which you can buy in our online store, has many advantages:

  • Thickness: 0.25 mm (titanium core thickness 0.07);
  • Easy fixing with titanium screws or pins;
  • Excellent wireframe functionality;
  • Perfect flexibility, easy to install. You can trim (around ti-core) to fit the size of the defect;
  • Barrier function: the microporous surface structure of PTFE prevents the spread of bacteria in the application area;
  • Reduced layering: it is removed entirely, not in layers;
  • Rounded blunt edges: do not cut through or damage mucosal tissues.

PTFE мембрана с титановым каркасомThe texturization of one side of the membrane in the form of small rounded depressions increases the surface area of the membrane by up to 250%. When the membrane is fixed, the smooth side is directed into contact with the bone augmentate, and the textured side is positioned in the direction of the covering flap. Fibroblasts migrate to the areas of membrane depressions, thus providing opportunities for increased soft tissue adhesion.
